Bachelor / Master thesis topic organic photovoltaics

The Institute of Electronic Devices offers students the opportunity to write their bachelor's or master's thesis in the field of organic photovoltaics (OPV). In the last few years, OPV has taken a decisive step in development, in which the efficiencies of this solar cell technology could be improved enormously. By using so-called "non-fullerene-acceptors" (NFAs), efficiencies in the range of about 19 % can be achieved, which corresponds to those of conventional silicon solar cells. Another crucial requirement is the stability (long-term behavior) of solar cells. In this respect, it is important to research this for the new NFA generation and to make a contribution to the energy generation of the future. Furthermore, the use of atomic layer deposition (ALD) on the photoactive layer will be studied in order to establish semi-transparent solar cells for novel applications, for example.
